I found it rather tannic, quite a fair bit of bitterness and acidity. The aromas were very interesting, certainly more expressive and potent than other Saint James I've tried, but on the palate it differed from its Martiniquais siblings in that it didn't possess the usual rhum agricole notes favored by rum lovers - the grassiness and herbal jelly, it was alot more aggressive with that acidity, damp woodiness, and solventy notes.
